Community Guidelines

Last updated: April 28, 2026

Shamaya on Earth is a small, faith-rooted community for Iraqi Christian singles seeking marriage. These guidelines describe how we expect every member to behave. By ticking the community guidelines box at registration, you agree to follow them.

1. The spirit of Shamaya

Shamaya exists so Iraqi Christians looking for a spouse can meet other real, verified members in a calm, respectful space. Every interaction here should be one you would be comfortable having in front of your family and your priest.

2. No sectarianism

Shamaya disagrees with sectarianism. We honour every Christian tradition. Members are not allowed to put down another church, rite, or community. Disagreements about doctrine are normal; contempt for fellow Christians is not, and it's grounds for removal.

To stay true to the community's purpose, Shamaya only recommends marriage within baptized Christian families. This is not a judgement of anyone outside the community; it is who this specific platform is for. Sectarian remarks, mockery of another tradition, or pressuring a member to leave or change their church are grounds for removal.

3. Treat every member with respect

Speak to every member the way you would want to be spoken to. Disagreement is fine; insults, mockery, sectarian attacks, and harassment are not. We have zero tolerance for racism, slurs, or demeaning comments about a member's family, parish, or background.

4. Share only truthful information

Use your real name, your real age, and a recent photo of just you. Do not impersonate anyone else, misrepresent your marital status, or hide important facts about yourself. Members trust that what you say in your profile and in messages is true.

5. Safety, privacy & off-platform contact

Move conversations off-platform only when both members are ready, and never under pressure. Never share another member's photo, profile details, or messages outside Shamaya without their explicit consent.

When you decide to meet in person, follow the precautions in our Liability Waiver: meet in a public place, tell someone you trust, and trust your instincts.

6. Prohibited behaviour

The following are not permitted on Shamaya:

  • Harassment of any kind — including unwanted contact after someone has asked you to stop, slurs, threats, or sustained pressure.
  • Sectarian attacks on another member's church, rite, or tradition.
  • Sexually explicit messages, images, or requests.
  • Pressuring another member for photos, money, or contact.
  • Soliciting, advertising, or promoting unrelated products or services.
  • Sharing another member's private information without consent.
  • Creating multiple accounts, or returning after being removed.
  • Any behaviour that is illegal in your jurisdiction.

7. Consequences, removal & refunds

Depending on the severity of a breach, we may issue a warning, suspend your account, or ban you permanently. Sectarian attacks, harassment, dishonesty about your identity, and any unsafe behaviour will normally result in immediate removal.

Removals for breaking these guidelines are made without refund of any subscription paid. If your account is closed for reasons unrelated to a guideline breach (for example, you ask us to delete your account), refunds follow the policy in our Terms of Service. We may also report serious incidents to the relevant authorities.

8. Reporting & how we act

If another member behaves in a way that breaks these guidelines, use the report button on their profile or in your conversation, or email hello@shamaya.app. Our team reviews every report personally, usually within 48 hours, and we'll let you know what action we've taken.
