About the Founder
Why I built Shamaya on Earth
Shamaya started as a personal answer to a question I kept hearing from Iraqi Christian families across the diaspora: "Where are our young people supposed to meet?"
A note from the founder
Iraqi Christian, builder of Shamaya.
Our community is small, scattered, and precious. Whether your family is Chaldean, Assyrian, Syriac, or Armenian, whether you grew up in Detroit, Sydney, Stockholm, or back home — finding someone who shares your faith, language, food, and family rhythm has gotten quietly harder every year.
The mainstream dating apps were never built for us. They flatten everyone into the same algorithm and treat faith as a checkbox. Family-arranged matches still happen, but they reach a smaller and smaller circle each generation.
I wanted a third option: a private, verified, faith-rooted home online — one where the goal is marriage and a Christian home, not endless swiping. Somewhere a Jido or a Nana could feel okay sending their grandchild to.
That's what Shamaya on Earth tries to be. "Shamaya" means heaven in our Aramaic mother tongue. The name is a prayer more than a promise: that a little piece of heaven would meet us here, on earth, in the people we choose to build a life with.
Every member is reviewed by hand. Every conversation matters. Every match is a family in the making.
What I promise you
Real people, verified by hand
Every signup is reviewed personally. No bots, no catfish, no recycled photos from other apps.
Faith is the foundation, not a filter
Shamaya is for people who want a Christian home. That shapes every product decision, not just a checkbox in your profile.
Your family would approve
Private, respectful, and serious about marriage. Built so a Jido or Nana would feel okay you're here.
I read every email
Until we grow, I personally answer hello@shamaya.app. If something feels off, tell me — I want to know.
Come build this with us
Shamaya is still young. Every founding member shapes what it becomes. If this sounds like the home you've been hoping for, I'd love for you to join us.
